The die cast process is done under extreme pressure, which results in a very uniform material cross section void of internal defects, therefore creating a very consistent product with regard to finish and strength. Moss rope cleats have been consistently used throughout the Australian awnings, flags and blinds industry for the past 50 years.

Cleats

I find them useful. However, I think that they were advetised as steel and as die cast, which means an alloy of zinc. The two are mutually exclusive. They are of course a bit brittle and I broke one installing them. I am happy with them. Steel ones would be even better.
